This was the BEST! He didn't know I was watching him walk down the hall. He actually MADE me say goodbye at the door. But I am a follower. His friend Colton yelled down the hall 'AL' !!!
Alec raised his arms and yelled back in his manly voice. Then Marcus walked up and they all did the manly hand shake, arm into each other, side bump greeting. They were all so happy to be with each other again. I watched these boys so excited for that first day and remembered how much I loved my friends back then. The 'middle school' hall was full of happy students meeting again after their summer break. When the bell rang, I heard an entire student body groan at the exact same time. It made me smile.
This was the first year I didn't bawl all the way home. I usually have to call Jer to calm me down. This year, the tears fell as I walked out those doors. I could count the tears. They left quickly, as my 3 year old Luke started talking and talking. He didn't stop the entire way home, and I was thankful he kept my mind off of my 'too big' kids.
I still have 2 years with him before he starts the big K. I'll try to make it slow. Really slow. And enjoy every moment.

I LOVE your blog. You always say something that inspires me. I miss miss miss you and all the primary fun we had. I hope that next week is great for you.
Isn't back to school such a high and low? At least you still have Lukie to hang out with! Your kids look so good. Tell them hi for me.
Love ya!
Oh the backpacks. I don't love having those hanging around.
I cannot believe you have an 8th grader. You hardly look older than a 10th grader.
Happy Schooling.
I love how much you love your kids. It comes through in everything you write and do. You are an amazing mom.
I usually don't get teary at back to school time, but I almost always get teary reading your blog :)
ahhh your right, the pic with Alec in the school hall is adorable with his boys. Sweet.
And I do have to say that Alec is the cutest boy ever. Inside and out. Really. He was so great to the younger kids at the pool.
Kids are back in school (all even numbers for you...so HAPPY for you!I know you love even.) anyway girl, you and me need to hit the mall for our favorite diet coke and pretzel. We need to hang more now the kids are out the door!
Loved your pics, all your kids are beautiful! But you already know that. we are setting Ashlyn up with ONE of your boys right?!?
love ya girl!
Wow! Alec is in High School. Seriously, he is ahead of his time. You didn't cry so much this time cause you're a fighter (although crying is totally allowed and is not considered a sign of weakness) but you have a new motto and it totally fits you. You are the best fighter I know. You deserve a trophy!
I had a couple countable tears also and that was it. Its crazy how they get older and we don't even realize it until it's the next school year. These are precious years. You are such a good mama. They will love you forever. I think there are a couple positive aspects with the kids going back to school. Our houses will stay cleaner and we get more time to ourselves. Summer is kid time and not time for mom. I'm excited and sad all at the same time. Good luck girly!! Missed ya last week at our end of summer swim bash. Your pic of Alec is awesome. What a memory.
I love the first picture, because that was us last Saturday...each kid bought a new pair of shoes for the first day of school along with some clothes! I need to take a picture like that! ;) Great blog, it makes me a little anxious for next week when my kids start. Brock will be my 3rd gone all day long! I feel a little sad about it all. They grow up way too fast. Loved reading it!
